I would assume you use windows XP
According to my experience, it is best to turn off system restore first. Then update your virus definitions and performa a full scan in the safe mode.
System restore is located at :
Go to -> My computer -> right click ->property ->System restore tab-> check the ‘turn off system restore’ -> click ok
Safe mode can be done by pressing F8 right after your system boot.
Perform full scan using antivirus software. AVG or Norton is recommended.
