I have anti virus software but I got a worm some how. How do I get rid of it? Or is it even possible? Will my computer function normally after it is taken care of? Restart PC in safe mode by gently tapping F-8 key, choosing Safe Mode with Networking. Download, Update and run Malwarebytes in Full Scan. When done and restarted Out of safe mode, download, update, run A-squared, and next Hitman Pro. Next download and run Ccleaner and the Reg Cleaner in Ccleaner. Turn off System Restore and turn back on.
Uninstall your AV if you even have one and use Ccleaner again after restarting PC and put AV back on. I suggest you use Avira or Avast and not AVG free, which does not protect against Rootkits.
use a malicious software tool such as MRT from microsoft, or superantispyware free version. make sure that you have firewall turned on and windows updates set to automatic after you do a full scan, quarantine and then reboot.
