Trojan Vundo is a trojan horse that disguises itself as a .exe program. You may have downloaded it from MIRC, email attachment, or a program that looked like another you were searching for. Once the .exe file is executed, you would have installed this trojan
The following symptom will be displayed on your computer:
You will experience multiple pop up advertisements on your Internet Explorer browser every time you surf the web. The reason you know it is Trojan Vundo probably is because your current anti virus detected it. I was running Norton which detected the trojan on my computer but was unable to quarantine or delete the file.
Norton is the standard for PC protection for most computers and I can’t say exactly why it was able to detect but not remove Trojan Vundo, even after each reboot.
Trojan Vundo has many variants and one needs an updated trojan database that is able to detect and remove the newest signatures. Some forums suggest a manual way of accessing the computer’s trojan scan log, but that might be too technical. I was looking for a way to remove Trojan Vundo using a simple Trojan Removal Software.
So what I did was to get the latest Trojan Removal tool in the market that also offered live technical support in case the pop ups continued. You may have heard of the Trojan known as Vundo. Hopefully, this isn’t because you’ve had to deal with it yourself! But if you don’t get the proper protection, then you may someday. Or you may suspect it’s on your computer.
One initial symptom of Vundo is often the ?blue screen of death.? This term usually refers to the blue screen you see when Windows shuts down your computer due to danger, or a massive system error. Vundo or one of the malicious programs it delivers, can replace your screensaver with a ?blue screen of death? clone!
What’s worse, it will negate the ?screensaver? tab on your desktop’s Properties dialog box.
Why is this? Because it helps scare people into buying the ?anti-spyware? offered by the popups that inevitably follow a Vundo infection.
These supposed anti-spyware programs, however, are anything but useful. They are fake programs designed to give false alarm to unsuspecting computer users. They use tricks like the ?blue screen of death,? and dropping infected files into a host computer. Then they scan and ?discover? those files, in an apparent solution to the computer owner’s problems.
Then you, the user, are prompted to buy the ?registered? version of the fake antispyware program. You’ll be told you need the full version in order to get rid of your infections. But all that will happen is that your problems will go away for a few days, only to return with annoying pop-up ads for other fake antispyware programs.

Trojan Vundo is a trojan that is not easily removed by conventional anti virus products. You will experience your anti virus informing you that trojan vundo has been detected but you will be unable to remove it after scanning and rebooting your computer a few times.
Trojan Vundo has many variations. The common one which infects many computers has the following sympton. When you boot up your computer and access the Internet with Internet Explorer, you will see multiple random ads appear. New tabs are opened and this causes your PC to use up resources to cater to these Ads. If you have a slow computer that has installed many programs, this can bring your surfing experience to a crawl, as your PC has to share resources not only displaying the webpage you’re trying to visit, but those of the pop up ads as well.
The other Trojan Vundo variations are more dangerous because they can leave your computer open to back door type infections. Back door basically means a hacker can now install a Key Logger Trojan on your computer, which detects password type sites and is able to phish your password and user name, then storing it on their database.
That is why some usernames and passwords are compromised and posted to warez sites. If your credit card and ss number is compromised, this could lead to identity theft where online scammers use it to make purchases over the internet.
Safety rules to avoid Trojan Vundo is not to open file attachments that do not look familiar to you. Even from someone that you know, its better to delete the file if the file does not look safe. Some emails say, “hey check this out”. Once you double click on the file, the Trojan Vundo is installed, and your computer has been compromised.
Trojan vundo requires a good updated trojan scanner to remove. Obsolete and free scanners will often inform you that Trojan Vundo was detected and unfortunately not able to remove because of the many heuristic variations of this trojan.

Some of the major symptoms of the Vundo virus are the pop-ups. Vundo will cause your web browser to pop up advertisements for software that is either antivirus, anti-spyware, or for software that will fix the “deterioration” of your computer. These programs are bad news. Whether the programs are anti-spyware or anti-virus, they essentially do the same thing. These rogue programs will have you pay for a “full version” of the software, then automatically run and falsely tell you it found and removed parasites on your system. Seems harmless, huh? Well its not, because these programs <i>are</i> the infection, and come bundled with other malware that install on your system and give access to your computer and its contents to outside sources. Your bank account information can be swiped, your identity stolen, and your computer used in denial-of-service attacks all because of these rogue programs.
Another obvious sign of infection by the Vundo virus is that your background will be changed to the image of an installation window saying there is adware on your computer, and your screensaver will be changed to the “Blue Screen of Death.” If you realize that your background and screensaver have been changed and go to your display properties to change them back, you will quickly find out that the screensaver and background tabs are missing.
In an attempt to prevent you from removing the virus, Vundo will disable your Task Manager and/or Windows Registry Editor. Another symptom of Vundo may be that your desktop icons will disappear only to reappear after a few minutes. If you are trying to run programs, this quickly becomes frustrating as Vundo automatically aborts the programs. Your web access may be impacted as well. Vundo can cause many websites to be inaccessible and the only sign you’ll have of this is your web browser hanging as you try to go to these websites.
Having worked with computers all my adult life, there is nothing that gets my blood boiling like a virus infection on my machine. Vundo is one of the nastiest because of how difficult it is to get rid of. Traditionally, you would have to run antivirus or anti-spyware programs and then search for what was missed, since most programs remove most of the Vundo virus but not all of it, leaving it to reinstall itself as soon as you reboot.
Today there is a much easier solution than digging around in your computer’s registry, praying you are not removing or changing something your computer needs to work as you try to save your system from Trojans like the Vundo virus. What you need to do to fix this situation is find a good anti-spyware that takes out Trojans or a good antivirus application. Many companies will come up with a fix for you if you have found something new. Some companies get back to you within a matter of hours, while others can take days. You need to do your research to find out which companies offer the services that are important to you. Sometimes you may need a combination of programs. To keep myself fully protected, I use both an anti-spyware application and an antivirus.

The Vundo virus is a very scary little Trojan horse virus. The reason the Vundo virus is scary is because of what it does and how hard the Vundo virus is to get rid of. The Vundo Trojan sneaks into your system and installs itself in the registry of your computer. Many programs will try to get rid of it, but because the Vundo Trojan has a dynamic quality, only the top anti virus, SpyZooka, can fully remove all forms of the Vundo virus.
The Vundo Trojan is a rootkit virus. A virus is called a rootkit because it digs into your computer’s registry and implants itself at the root of your operating system, thus taking fundamental control of your computer. Rootkit viruses are notoriously hard to remove because many are dynamic in nature, meaning if you only remove part of the virus and miss some the virus, the virus will reinstall itself and re-infect your computer all over again.
The Vundo Trojan virus will give you lots of pop-ups for fake antivirus software. These sites try to get you to pay for the fake antivirus software, but these programs will only infect your computer further if you “buy” and install them. The Vundo virus will also slow your system down to a crawl and possibly make your system seize up. Another symptom of the Vundo virus is that your desktop icons and task bar may disappear, and then reappear after a short time. This can be aggravating if you are trying to run programs, as they will keep getting automatically aborted. Also, your web browser may be hijacked, taking you to rogue antivirus sites and preventing you from going to certain sites such as Hotmail, Google or Myspace.
The Vundo virus is a scary virus that is not only destructive, but is very hard to get rid of. The only way to effectively remove a Vundo Trojan–and to keep from getting one in the first place–is by using tried-and-true, top anti virus software.

My computer has a trojan virus called Vundo. I’ve tried so many different things to get rid of it. I have McAfee SecruityCenter and a pop-up keeps coming up and telling me I have the virus, but it won’t let me clean, quarentine, or delete it. I don’t know what to do. Please help! Vundo is a particularly sneaky trojan horse that sneaks it way onto your computer and causes a host of problem on your system. The most popular threat is the fake spyware warning. Typically you will get a pop up warning that claims “windows has detected spyware infection”, “spyware has been detected on your computer”, or any combination of “false positive” declarations regarding spyware, adware, or virus infection. If you are currently having this problem for the love of all that is holy DO NOT download any software from these warnings. All they will do is infect your computer further and potentially scam you out of money. Before I show you how to perform a “Vundo fix” you should probably know where the spyware came from.
How did Vundo get on your computer? The most common method of infection is through a vulnerability in Java. Typically Vundo will attach itself to DLL files and browser help objects. Although Internet Explorer is the most susceptible to Vundo recent versions have been able to attack FireFox as well. For future prevention either don’t use Java or simply download the absolute latest version. Java Sun 1.5 is the most commonly infected program but more recent versions do a little better job of preventing Vundo.
Vundo is one of the trickiest forms of malware on the net today. Figuring out how to remove Vundo can be quite a chore. Not only do you need to remove the associated .exe files but you have to physically go into the registry and delete the DLL files as well. Unfortunately these files are randomly named so it can be hard to choose which are malicious and which are necessary system processes.
To add icing on the cake even if you find the DLL files and delete them, Vundo will simply regenerate them when you reboot. This is because it also infects your browser help object folder which is loaded before you start up.

I have a computer that has vundo. I’ve tried vundo fix, spyware dr, spysweeper, trojan blaster, bazooka, spybot & nothing works. I’ve run it in safe and regular modes.When I try to install Spysweeper the vundo won’t let me install it. When I run some of the programs in safe mode it says it removed it. But when I run it again in regualr mode it’s back. I am pretty good when it comes to this kind of stuff but this has me stumped.
